The Red Deer Ringette Association is hosting their 35th Annual Friends on Ice Tournament January 4th-6th, 2019. The tournament will feature more than 70 teams, including over 1000 players and coaches. Teams from around the province will come to compete in 13 different divisions from the littlest beginning athlete all the way to the experienced. The tournament's main arena will be the Kinsmen Community Arena, with other games being held at the Dawe Center, The Kinex Arena, and the Collicutt Center.
Since Red Deer will host the 27th Canada Winter Games and ringette is a feature sport in the games and this tournament will give people a chance to see how the sport is different from hockey. The emphasis is on play-making and skating skills. The rules of ringette make it a wide-open and dynamic sport.
